Jacob and Eric start off Episode #8 by reacting to the second impeachment trial of President Donald Trump, which led to his second acquittal in the Senate. After lambasting the overall poor performance by Trump’s legal team and discussing the broader implications of the trial itself and the outcome, they focus on the big question of the day: What is the America First/MAGA movement, and what is its future after 2020? Jacob and Eric highlight the core tenets of this new national populist movement, how it differs from the current Republican Party and even previous grassroots movements such as the Tea Party, where it “went wrong” under Trump, what challenges it faces (both internally and externally), and what it can do to improve itself and become an even stronger political force going into 2022 and 2024.
