Episode #44: Revenge of the Karens

In this special election recap episode, Jacob and Eric analyze the astounding results of the 2021 election cycle, with the Virginia gubernatorial race being the most prominent. They discuss how the anti-Critical Race Theory backlash galvanized White voters, especially rural and non-college-educated Whites, to vote for Republican Glenn Youngkin in even greater droves than they did for Donald Trump, and how White women especially propelled Youngkin to the governor’s mansion. They also discuss the historic upset in New Jersey, where a based Republican trucker defeated the President of the State Senate after spending just $153 on his campaign, as well as the razor-thin margin by which incumbent Governor Phil Murphy narrowly defeated Republican challenger Jack Ciattarelli. Plus, a Republican somehow managed to win the election for City Attorney in the city of Seattle, and Minneapolis overwhelmingly rejected a ballot measure to abolish the police department.
